A video chat on your phone should not mean a download, an account and a stack of permissions. Thundr opens in your mobile browser and starts a chat the moment you allow your camera — the same random, one-on-one video chat you would get on a laptop, sized for a phone.
Because it is a web app, there is nothing sitting on your device between sessions. Open the tab when you want to talk, close it when you are done. Plenty of people only ever use it on a phone, and it is built for exactly that.

Front camera or rear
You start on your front camera, so you are on screen. During a video chat you can flip to the rear camera — useful when you would rather show what is around you than your face.
On mobile data? Go voice
Pick voice mode before you match and a chat uses much less data than video. (Covering the camera mid-call only hides the picture — it does not cut the data, so voice is the real way to go lighter.)
Upright and one-handed
Portrait is fine — no need to turn the phone sideways. Prop it up or hold it; the layout is built for a screen you are holding in one hand.
