Blocked by mistake? First work out which block you have hit.

Three completely unrelated things get called “blocked”, and only one of them is something to appeal. Most people who arrive here convinced they have been banned are actually one browser setting away from being fine.

Same word, three different problems

“I have been blocked” usually means one of three things, and the fixes have nothing to do with each other. Sometimes the browser has withheld your camera, so every chat dies instantly and it feels personal. Sometimes one person used the block button, which is a private control between two users. And sometimes it really is a moderation action, which is the only case where writing to anybody helps. Telling them apart takes about thirty seconds, and saves you an angry email about a problem that lives in your own settings.

Five symptoms, and what each one actually is

What you are seeingWhich “block” it actually isWhat to do about it
Your own camera is a black rectangle, or the browser says camera blockedA browser permission, not a decision anyone made about you. It is the most common false alarm by a wide margin.Reset the site permission in your browser settings and reload. Permission is asked separately for every browser and device, so a new phone starts from scratch.
One particular person never comes round againThey used Block. It is a per-person control any user can apply from your profile, and it says nothing about your account: block someone and they are not matched to you again. There is nothing to appeal — it is their call to make, exactly as it is yours. The same control sits on their profile, and Settings keeps a blocked list you can undo from.
You reported someone and nothing visible happenedReports go into review. The notice shown when you file one says submissions are reviewed within 24 hours. You are not always told the outcome of a report about someone else. Accuracy matters: the same notice warns that false reports can restrict your own account.
A warning, or messaging, matching or purchases suddenly limitedA moderation action. The Terms list exactly these steps: warnings, and limits on posting, messaging, matching or purchases.Read the exact wording on your screen before doing anything else. That message is the authority on your account — not a forum thread, and not this page.
The account is suspended or closedThe top of the same ladder. The Community Guidelines set it out as warnings for minor issues, temporary suspension for repeated ones, permanent suspension for severe ones.Write to the official support address with specifics. There is one channel for this, and no separate appeals form to hunt for.

What an appeal can and cannot promise

If it is a moderation action and you believe it is wrong, the route is the single official support channel — the same address that handles account, payment and safety questions. Support reviews requests on the issue, its severity and how clearly it is described. So: no instant reply, no guaranteed reversal, and no back door. A calm message with a timestamp and a screenshot is worth more than five furious ones. You can reach it at [email protected], and the full detail lives on Contact Us and the Community Guidelines.

How to raise a block you believe is wrong

  1. 1

Read the exact message on screen

Warning, limit, temporary suspension and permanent closure are different outcomes with different wording. Copy the text down before you reload anything, because it decides which of the rows above you are in.

  2. 2

    Rule out the browser first

If the problem is your own camera or mic, no appeal is needed and no one has to answer you. Reset the site permission, reload, and check the camera indicator light.

  3. 3

Write to the official support channel with the details

The Contact Us page asks for the account identifier, the feature involved, roughly when it happened, a clear description, and screenshots or a recording where you have them.

  4. 4

Send facts, not credentials, and expect a review

Never include passwords, one-time codes or full card numbers. Support states that account and enforcement cases may need additional review before a final response, so a reply is not instant and an outcome is not guaranteed.
